North American Mobiles to Use Digital Currency for Indie Music

March 16, 2007 – If the ultimate music fan were stuck in a ditch with no cash and only his cell phone, he could get his indie music fix through the newly adopted system of digital currency through txttunes.com. The online mobile music store txttunes.com is set to install Creditz transaction engine digital currency system in North America in May, enabling music lovers to receive downloads via their phone with credit accounts, CEO America, Inc., licensee of the Creditz Digital Currency System, announced today. Called the world’s first digital currency, according to the company website, Creditz is a customer reward system that gives credit for every purchase an user makes online towards future purchases.
With it, Internet-enabled phone users can download independent music from txttunes.com and pay by text or with the newly adopted Creditz accounts. Already established in New Zealand, txttunes uses standard MP3 files to be compatible with mobile devices or computers. Top artists from the site include Slaughtered Symphony, Arms Reach, and Steriogram, according to the company website.
“txttunes is about to introduce an exciting business model to North America,” said CEOA Founder and Chairman David Vaters in a company press release. “Both independent bands and major labels are seeking new ways to monetize their content and enhance intimacy with their fan base. CREDITZ can be used to cross-market content, drive merchandising and promote concert ticket sales. We are thrilled to be working with such an innovative company as txttunes,” he said.
Pricing details or reward benefits of txttunes.com or Creditz Digital Currency have not yet been announced for North America.
