Email
A demo Gmail account was set up on the prototype units at Nokia's booth, but further information on its full email capabilities has not yet been made available. At the very least, we expect it to be able to support multiple email accounts using the POP3 and IMAP4 protocols like other N-series devices.

The N97 has a native IM application though it was not set up on the prototype unit for us to see how it functioned.

Text & Multimedia Messaging
The N97 is capable of sending text and multimedia messages. When creating a text message, you can easily add in media to turn it into an MMS if you change your mind mid-stream.
