Conclusion
The N96 is a powerful device that offers a high level of extensibility, good PIM management (though it lacks some features business users will want), and multimedia capabilities suitable for any music and video junkie on the go. Its price tag is high and it probably only appeals to a limited portion of the population given this, but you do get a lot for your money in the device itself and with a box full of accessories. Though you'll need to spend a little more to get some games on it and get voice-guided navigation, the N96 can keep up with you and come in handy in just about every situation and we recommend it for its level of functionality with only a few caveats about it hardware-wise.

Who's It For

Business User
While the N96 does have fairly robust email capabilities, it does not offer Exchange Server synchronization out of the box and may not be on the list of acceptable devices for your company. But, if you do a little work, it will suit you just fine, though its limited call time battery life may not be enough to keep you in contact on the go regardless.

Budget Callers
At $639, the N96 is definitely not for the budget-conscious and can't be recommended at all for this group of users, despite the full box of accessories with which it comes. The only silver lining to the N96's price cloud here is that, as an unlocked device, a budget-oriented user has more choice in picking the least expensive calling plan and saving on global roaming rates by purchasing a local SIM card when outside of the U.S.

Chatty Teenager
With a call time battery life of just under 3 hours, chatty teenagers will not be enamored of the N96 at all. Additionally, its $639 price probably puts it a bit out of reach of the teenager on a fast food joint salary.

Media Maven
Ah, the media maven will have a ball with the N96 given its imaging capabilities and multiple controls and features to control media playback. Add to that its ample internal storage and expansion card slot that can double its memory, and you have a winner for the multimedia-focused crowed.
