Email
The N86's email capabilities will be more than satisfactory for most, with POP, IMAP3, including IMAP idle, and SMTP protocol support. There's no word yet on whether or not Nokia's Mail for Exchange software will work on the N86.

Instant Messaging
There was no IM application to be found on the N86, and when we inquired about, we were reminded that this was a prototype unit without a full complement of software that will ship in the final production versions. The online spec sheets states that Windows Live Messenger will be supported and requires that the application be downloaded.

Text & Multimedia Messaging
The N86 is completely capable of text and multimedia messaging. Creating a new text message is easy with a shortcut right on the home screen, and adding media only requires going through the Options menu to access this command.
