Cellular Bands (8.0)
The Nokia N81 is a quad-band GSM phones, which means it will work on any GSM network world-wide. This makes it a good choice for anyone who travels internationally.
Data Support Score (6.0)
The Nokia N81 supports GPRS and EDGE on all four of its GSM bands and supports UMTS and HSDPA on the 2100 Mhz band, which is not used the in United States. This means that the Nokia N81 will max out at around 250 kbps on the EDGE network, not very fast compared to the 1.8 Mbps offered by AT&T's 3G HSDPA network.
Bluetooth (9.5)
The Nokia N81 supports Bluetooth 2.0 with a good selection of profiles including dial up networking, object push, FTP, hands free, object exchange, generic access, serial port, headset, basic imaging and A2DP. We found it very simple to set up a partnership with a Bluetooth headset and appreciated the very comprehensive selection of Bluetooth profiles.
Wi-Fi (7.0)
The Nokia N81 supports Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g with support for UPNP so you can stream media between your device and other UPNP enabled devices.
Infrared (0.0)
The Nokia N81 doesn't support Infrared for short range line of sight wireless connectivity.
