We reviewed a pre production version of the E90 on display at Nokia's booth during CTIA 2007. The Nokia E90 is one of the most fully featured business devices we have reviewed. As part of Nokia's E-Series the E90 has extensive support for business applications and integration with a plethora of email solutions, including Blackberry, Exchange and Intellisync. The E90 is the latest device in Nokia's communicator lineup of devices. These share a clamshell form factor; the E90 opens up to reveal a large 800 x 352 pixel resolution display and a roomy QWERTY keyboard. We were pleased to see that unlike previous devices in Nokia's communicator range the E90 allows you to access the full operating system using the external controls, keypad and QVGA display. The E90 also departs from previous Nokia communicators in that it runs the Series 60 interface over Symbian rather than Series 80. Nokia has tweaked several applications to make better use of the large and wide internal display.
In addition to being a fully feature communicator the E90 also boasts impressive multimedia capabilities. Memory can be expanded using a MicroSD slot, allowing you to load music and video on the device. The E90 also sports a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and an LED flash. And to top it off the E90 has integrated GPS.
The main drawback we saw with the E90 is its large size, and some concerns about the control keys on the inside of the device. If you can get past these niggles the E90 represents a top of the line business device.
Please note that because this is a pre production unit we expect that many things could change before the E90 is released to the public.
