| With support for global GSM networks the E71 is a world phone. It also supports AT&T's 3G network. There's excellent Bluetooth support, Wi-Fi and even Infrared on board. |

Cellular Bands (8.0)
The Nokia E71 is a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM device that will work on just about any GSM network worldwide, making it a good choice for world travellers. It will not function on CDMA networks run by Verizon or Sprint, but will work on the two GSM networks in the U.S., AT&T and T-Mobile.
Data Support Score (7.0)
The Nokia E71 supports high speed HSDPA data on AT&T's 3G network with maximum download speeds of 3.6 Mbps. It will not function on other HSDPA networks that function on bands other than those used by AT&T. This includes international 3G networks and T-Mobile's upcoming 3G network. Where 3G is not available you fall back on EDGE speeds, which max out around 230 kbps.
Bluetooth (10.5)
The Nokia E71 supports Bluetooth 2.0 with enhanced data rate for faster transfers. A good selection of Bluetooth profiles are supported including Dial up Networking, Object Push, Serial Port, Hands Free, Generic Object Exchange, Headset, Basic Imaging, Remote Sim Access, General Audio/Video Distribution, A2DP and AVRCP. This is a wide selection of profiles, in sharp contrast to the limited profiles available on some other devices like the iNokia E66G. We had no problems pairing a headset with the Nokia E71.
Wi-Fi (5.0)
The Nokia E71 supports Wi-Fi b/g, for fast data access when you are near a wireless hotspot.
Infrared (7.0)
Nokia continues to support Infrared connectivity on their E-Series devices, as this legacy technology for short range line of sight wireless connectivity is still used in legacy environments.
