The Good |
The Bad |
| Tour & Design |
Small, slim and attractive. |
We wish the camera lens was better protected. |
| Audio Quality |
Audio sent was very good and audio received was average. |
Side tone was a bit on the low side. |
| Imaging |
Resolution and video quality were well above average, and we like the camera interface.
|
Color was just average and noise was very high for still photos. |
| Making/Receiving Calls |
Fast dialing and flexible ringtones. |
Vibrate alert could have been better. |
| Messaging |
Push email via Exchange Server out of the box.
|
We wish there was a unified MMS/SMS interface. |
| Organizer |
Major upgrades to the PIM apps make them more powerful and easier to use. |
Still no support for categories in the calendar and tasks could be better. |
| Multimedia |
Excellent music software is easy to use and powerful. |
Music software was slow to load and it choked on higher quality video. |
| Software |
Powerful smart phone operating system and excellent web browser. |
No games on board and the calculator and alarm could be better. |
| Battery Life |
Excellent music playback time. |
Below average talk and web browsing time.
|
| Connectivity |
The E71 is packed with global GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Infrared and 3G. |
International 3G networks are not supported, and neither is T-Mobile's so its AT&T or bust. |
| Hardware |
Decent speed typing on the QWERTY keyboard and support for high capacity Micro SD cards.
|
The keyboard is small and can be difficult to type on. We wish there were a standard 3.5mm headset jack. |
| Other Features |
GPS with Nokia Maps 2.0 makes this a good navigation device. |
No support for U.S. push to talk networks. |
| Value & Comparisons |
The Nokia E71 compares favorably to its competition. |
At $500 it's price is way above most of its competition. |
