August 26, 2008 - Today Nokia announced three N-series smartphones: the N85, N79, and the North American version of the N96. All of these smartphones will be capable of utilizing AT&T's 3G network, demonstrating that Nokia is continuing to roll out high-end devices that support U.S. high speed networks.

The N85 has a candy bar form factor with a one-way slider and a 2.6 inch screen. It is a quad-band GSM phone with tri-band 3G so it can make use of AT&T's expanding 3G network in the U.S as well as other networks around the world. It also includes a 5-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, wi-fi, bluetooth, TV-out capability, a-GPS, and will come with an 8GB Micro SD card in the box.

The new N79 and N96 models are also quad-band GSM phones that include dual-band 3G connectivity for AT&T's 3G network, though they will not work with 3G networks in other countries. The N79 has a candy bar form factor with a 2.4-inch QVGA screen and will include a 4GB Micro SD card in the box. The N96 will have a whopping 16GB of onboard memory and keeps the dual-slider form factor of its predecessor, the N95, albeit with a slightly larger screen at 2.8 inches.

The non-U.S. version of the N96 was originally announced a few months ago and we were able to get our hands on one and do a video preview of it. All of the phones will be sold unlocked without carrier affiliations in the U.S. at Nokia's flagship retail stores and online through their website, with availability in Q4.
