Nokia Announces N97 Touchscreen Device

Nokia announced a new device today, the N97, with some impressive specs that will give other touchscreen phones a run for their money. The N97 has a 3.5-inch touchscreen, 32GB of on-board memory with expandability to 48GB with a microSD card, a 5-megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. It is quad-band GSM device that will operate on 3G networks around the world, including AT&T's 3G network in the U.S. The N97 also has a GPS receiver, integrated compass, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR.


The N97 will be able to download music from the Nokia Music Store and take advantage of Nokia's Ovi suite of services, including email, online file storage, PIM data syncing, and more. The N97 will be available in the first half of 2009. U.S. pricing for the device has not yet been announced, though the estimated retail price in Europe will be EUR 550.
