Nokia Announces 8600 Luna

Nokia today announced the 8600 Luna, a mid level fashion phone running on the Series 40 platform. The 8600 is a stylish handset in the slider form factor. A quad-band world phone, it has a 2 megapixel camera and QVGA screen that supports 16 million colors. When closed the 8600's keypad is visible through a layer of opaque smoky glass from the front. The Luna is the latest in Nokia's lineup of fashion phones that includes the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition. Nokia has made aggressive moves in the fashion phone market over the past few years.Heikki Norta, a Senior Vice President said "An obsession to every detail marked each step in the development process of the Nokia 8600 Luna. We took painstaking effort to ensure that the experience delivered by every surface - from the smoothness of glass against the face to the warmth of stainless steel in the palm to the superior tactile feedback of the keypad - would surpass any and all expectations,". The Nokia 8600 is expected to be available during the 2nd quarter of of 2007 at an estimated price of 700 Euros. There is no word on availability in the United States.
