Summary
The Nokia 6555's support for AT&T's 3G network is a plus, but we're disappointed it only supports the slower UMTS version. We're quite pleased to see excellent support for Bluetooth profiles.

Cellular Bands (8.0)
The Nokia 6555 is a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) GSM phone, which means it will function on any GSM network worldwide. This makes it a good choice for those who might be traveling overseas. In the United States, it means it won't function on the two CDMA networks run by Verizon and Sprint. Our score for cellular bands is based on the total number of bands supported.

Data Support Score (5.0)
The Nokia 6555 supports AT&T's high speed 3G network, but not at the fastest HSDPA speeds, which can get up to 3.6 Mbps, but rather the slower UMTS variety, which tops out at around 380 Kbps. This means that the Nokia 6555 provides faster download speeds than handsets that run on AT&T's EDGE network, 230 kbps maximum, but not by a huge margin. The Nokia 6555 only supports these faster 3G speeds on AT&T's network bands, this means that if you are overseas you will need to use the slower EDGE connection. You will also be relegated to EDGE in areas of the country that don't yet have coverage for AT&T's 3G network.

Bluetooth (10.0)
The Nokia 6555 supports Bluetooth 2.0 EDR, which allows for multiple concurrent connections and higher data transfer speeds. Like most Nokia phones, the 6555 supports a good selection of Bluetooth profiles, including generic access, generic object exchange, hands-free, headset, object push, files transfer, dial-up networking, SIM card access, service discovery, AVRCP, and A2DP. We found it simple and straightforward to pair the Nokia 6555 with a Bluetooth headset. Combined with support for the latest Bluetooth standards and an excellent selection of profiles, this makes the Nokia 6555 one of the most capable Bluetooth phones we've seen.

Wi-Fi (0.0)
The Nokia 6555 does not support Wi-Fi connectivity

Infrared (0.0)
The Nokia 6555 does not support short range line of sight wireless data via Infrared. Bluetooth has generally superseded this technology, but for some who have legacy hardware this might be the only way to do wireless transfers.
