17 March 2010 - Users of AT&T and Sprint will soon be available to buy Googles flagship Nexus One Android phone for use on their networks, although it won't be cheap; the unsubsidized GSM version of the phone will cost $529.

Google has announced the new version of their own phone for the AT&T network, but it won't be sold by the carrier themselves. Instead, users will be able to buy an unlocked GSM version of the phone

direct from Google

that supports the AT&T 3G frequencies. The previous GSM version of the phone only worked with T-Mobiles 3G network in the USA. The new version will work with AT&T in the US, as well as all GSM carriers that use the 850, 1900 and 2100 MHz frequencies for their 3G network, but the downside is that the phone will cost a hefty $530. Most phones sold directly by the carriers are subsidized, where the carrier makes the phone itself cheaper in return for the customer signing up for a long-term contract, such as the T-Mobile version of the Nexus One, which costs $179. With this version, the buyer pays the full cost of this new version of the Nexus One. The new version of the Nexus One is available now.

Sprint has also announced that they will be supporting a version of the phone that works with their network. The Sprint Nexus One will be available soon, but no details have yet been released on the price of this phone. Again, the phone will be sold directly by Google, not by Sprint, although the carrier will be supporting the phone.
