Those Finnish mobile-meisters at Nokia have just dropped a set of new cell phone accessories: a new Bluetooth GPS receiver, two new Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers and a new power pack that can extend the battery life of Nokia Cell phones.
Although the products have been announced by the Finish parent company and will all be available globally, there is no information on US pricing yet; currency conversions are our own. The GPS receiver is the LD-4W, which weighs just 31 grams (approx. 1 ounce) and has a suction cup for attaching it to a window for better coverage. It connects to a cell phone using a Bluetooth radio, and Nokia claims that the built in rechargeable battery will last an impressive 10 hours; pretty good for a device that is this small. the LD-4W will cost about 125 Euros (approx. $170). ![]() Two new Bluetooth headsets were also announced: the BH-903 is a stereo headset that can play music as well as act as a standard headset. Nokia claims it weighs just 32 grams (just over 1 ounce) and supports all of the usual Bluetooth music profiles, so it should work with most handsets. It has two earbuds and a central control that has a small OLED display that shows track names, etc and a claimed battery life of 15 hours. Pricing is 200 Euros; that's about $272. ![]() The other Bluetooth headset is the BH-902, which is a standard Bluetooth headset for making calls. It weighs in at just 18 grammes, but still includes a small OLED display that shows notifications for SMS/MMS messages. Nokia claims a battery life of up to 8 hours talk time. The price is 115 Euros; around $156. ![]() The MD-7W are a set of Bluetooth speakers. Priced at 130 Euros (approx. $177), these small speakers work like a Bluetooth stereo headset; they speak the A2DP/AVCRP Bluetooth protocol (so the should work with most cell phones) and include a magnetic mount that can be used to attach them to anything metal, such as a car. ![]() Finally, there is the DC-1 power pack. This sounds like it could be useful if you have a device such as the N95 that has a short battery life; it plugs into the 2-mm power port that most Nokia cell phones use, and holds the equivalent of "up to three batteries". Nokia didn't specify an exact figure for how much charge it will hold, but it will no doubt be a welcome addition for those disappointed with the battery life of power-hungry devices like the N95. The DC-1 will cost 105 Euros (around $143). ![]()
