As a quad-band GSM phone, the ZINE will offer good flexibility to those who travel outside of the U.S. where GSM networks are much more prevalent than CDMA ones, although data connectivity will be pretty slow on EDGE networks wherever you go. Bluetooth support is good and includes the ability to use stereo headphones to listen to music. Wi-Fi is also present and facilitates the uploading of pictures to the web and web browsing.

Cellular Bands (8.0)
The ZINE is a quad-band GSM phone that operates on the 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, and 1900MHz frequencies. In general, GSM devices offer more flexibility for users who travel internationally compared to CDMA phones since most networks outside of the U.S. are GSM ones.

Data Support Score (3.0)
The ZINE is capable of connecting to T-Mobile's EDGE network and drops back to GPRS when EDGE is not available. EDGE is slower than 3G connectivity, so if you want faster data speeds for browsing when away from a Wi-Fi access point, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Bluetooth (6.5)
The ZINE includes Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and has 8 profiles, including the coveted A2DP for stereo audio with Bluetooth headphones, and Dial-up Networking. The other profiles it has support the exchange of various files via Bluetooth and allow headset and handsfree use, and more. We found pairing the ZINE with our computers to be easy and straightforward, though the Bluetooth menus are a little buried in the menu system. Turning Bluetooth on and off are also a little unintuitive - once you're in the Bluetooth settings, you have to go to the Options menu and select Manage/Setup Bluetooth to do this.

Wi-Fi (5.0)
The ZINE has a Wi-Fi radio built in that operates under the 802.11 b and g standards. Easy shortcuts are present throughout the OS to use Wi-Fi to upload your still and video images to your Kodak Gallery, a blog, and other destinations, and it can also be used for faster web browsing.

Infrared (0.0)
The ZINE does not have infrared.
