Motorola Z10 First Impression Cell Phone Review - Value & Conclusion

Value
It's hard to judge this phone's value since Motorola refused to tell us its price.

Comparisons
Nokia N95 - The N95 is probably the closest comparison to the Z10, because it's a very imaging-oriented handset. The N95 also offers tons of additional functionality, but is a bit pricey as well. Without considering prices, the N95 seems to be a better all-around device, but the Z10 is much better for editing video.

Razr2 V8 - The V8 from T-Mobile actually has comparable software to the Z10, which makes sense since Motorola made them both. The Z10 has a ton of additional features, however, so until we get price confirmation, we're going to say the Z10 is a better phone.

T-Mobile Shadow - The Shadow has Windows Mobile's standard imaging software, which is above and beyond most other operating systems. The Z10 blows it out of the water, however.

Who's It For

Business User

Though it's a smart phone, the Z10 doesn't have enough business software natively to attract most business users. Also, while it does have a solid email client, it doesn't have the push email that business users need.

Budget Callers
Though we don't have a price point yet, this phone doesn't seem like it'll wind up in a bargain bin.

Chatty Teenager
Chatty teens with a creative streak might like the Z10. Get this for the aspiring YouTube producer in your family.

Media Maven
The target demographic for the Z10 is undoubtedly the media maven, specifically an online video producing media maven.

Conclusion
The Z10 is one of the few non-business-oriented smart phones out there. Though its software is a bit inferior compared to other smart phones, the Z10 should be extensible enough to compensate for these shortcomings. The video editing software is certainly very interesting, but we really didn't have much of a chance to test the full extent of its capabilities. Regardless, the Z10 is a phone we're looking forward to getting into our lab.
