Call Time (5.70)
To test how long the Razr2 V9m's battery lasts while making a call we placed a call to the phone using Skype. We then played an audio book over the connection to simulate conversation and timed how long the phone lasted. The Razr2 V9m from Verizon lasted 4 hours and 45 minutes, which is almost exactly the same as we saw from the Razr2 V9m from Sprint. It's also a major improvement over the older Razr V3m.
| Cell Phone | Talk Time | Score |
| Razr2 V9m (Verizon) | 4 hours 45 mins | 5.70 |
| Helio Fin | 3 hours 42 mins | 4.42 |
| Razr2 V9m (Sprint) | 4 hours 47 mins | 5.74 |
| Razr V3m | 2 hours 41 mins | 3.22 |
| LG Chocolate VX8550 | 4 hours 43 mins | 5.66 |
| Apple iPhone | 7 hours 4 mins | 8.48 |
Music Playback (6.42)
We normally test battery performance while playing back music by setting up the phone to play a playlist in looped mode. The Razr2 V9m from Verizon lacks a repeat function, however, so instead we just created a really long playlist. We turned the volume up to maximum and timed how long it took for the battery to run out. The Razr2 V9m from Verizon lasted 8 hours and 55 minutes, which is within 15 minutes of what we saw from the Sprint version. The time is solid, although not as good as the Chocolate VX8550 or iPhone.
| Cell Phone | Music Playback Time | Score |
| Razr2 V9m (Verizon) | 8 hours 55 mins | 6.42 |
| Helio Fin | 7 hours 50 mins | 5.64 |
| Razr2 V9m (Sprint) | 8 hours 40 mins | 6.24 |
| Razr V3m | 4 hours 23 mins | 3.16 |
| LG Chocolate VX8550 | 13 hours 55 mins | 10.02 |
| Apple iPhone | 10 hours 46 mins | 7.75 |
Web Browsing (5.82)
To find out how long the battery lasts while browsing the Web we pointed the phone's browser at a page set to refresh every 10 seconds. We then made sure the screen stayed on and timed how long the phone lasts. The Razr2 V9m from Verizon lasted a solid 4 hours and 51 minutes in our test. This is a good time for Web browsing, especially when you consider that the Razr2 V9m is using Verizon's high speed EVDO network. Surprisingly, it's also significantly better than the performance of the Sprint version of this phone; Verizon is obviously doing something more efficiently than Sprint.
| Cell Phone | Browsing Time | Score |
| Razr2 V9m (Verizon) | 4 hours 51 mins | 5.82 |
| Helio Fin | 3 hours 10 mins | 3.80 |
| Razr2 V9m (Sprint) | 2 hours 45 mins | 3.30 |
| Razr V3m | 2 hours 24 mins | 4.30 |
| LG Chocolate VX8550 | 2 hours 32 mins | 3.04 |
| Apple iPhone | 5 hours 13 mins | 6.26 |
Idle Time unscored
In order to ensure we deliver reviews in a timely manner we don't test standby time. Verizon states the Razr2 V9m's standby time is 310 hours, or almost 13 days.
