Motorola RAZR V3m Cell Phone Review - Connectivity

Cellular Bands (4.0)
The Motorola Razr V3m is a dual band CDMA phone, which functions on the 800 and 1900 Mhz bands. Unfortunately, CDMA technology functioning on these bands is pretty much restricted to the United States and Canada. World travelers who want to take their phone with them should either consider a GSM provider or look into Sprint’s international roaming service, which allows you to lease a compatible GSM phone and keep your phone number, for a cost. Our score in this section is standardized based on the total number of cellular bands supported by a handset.

Data Support Score (6.0)
The Motorola Razr V3m supports Sprint’s high speed EVDO network. According to Sprint, average download speeds range from 400 to 700 kbps (note the small b), with burst speeds up to 2 Mbps. We tried to run a speed test on dslreports.com, however the Razr V3m’s browser did not support it. When you are not in an EVDO coverage area, data falls back on the slower 1xRTT. The Motorola Razr V3m does not support Sprint’s newer and higher speed EVDO Rev A network. For most users that stay in North America EVDO provides very good data speeds, although it does have a significant impact on battery life.

Bluetooth (4.5)
Bluetooth is used for short range wireless connectivity, such as to a headset or to exchange files. The Motorola Razr V3m supports Bluetooth 1.2, and older standard, and 4 profiles: headset, hands free, DUN (Dial Up Networking) and serial port. The Razr’s Bluetooth manager is found in the main menu, and allows you to turn Bluetooth on and off, make the device discoverable, create partnerships and review your history. We were able to partner with our test bluetooth headset quickly and easily. The manager is straightforward and simple to use, but we would have liked to see the device come with more profiles. Considering the V3m’s music functionality the a2dp stereo Bluetooth profile would have been nice.

WiFi (0.0)
The Motorola Razr V3m does not support Wi-Fi.

Infrared (0.0)
The Motorola Razr V3m does not support IRDA
