Value (5.0)
The LG enV2 is available for $129.99 with a two-year contract and $179.99 without. We feel like this is a pretty reasonable price for a cell phone with the enV2's features. On the other hand you can argue that you can get a smart phone like the Palm Centro for less, but not everyone needs or wants a smart phone. The enV2 is an above average phone and $129.99 is a much better price than what you'd pay for something like the LG Voyager, which really doesn't bring much more to the table. That being said we bet that you can probably pick one up for around $50 in about six months, so if you're able to wait you might want to.

Verizon SMT5800 - Like the LG enV2 the SMT5800 has a QWERTY keyboard and sports a fairly small form factor. Unlike the enV2, however, it's a full smart phone running Windows Mobile. This means you can do a lot more with it, like manage your email on the device and more robust organizer features. Windows Mobile is also more complicated, however, and the SMT5800 is also much more expensive than the LG enV2. If you know you want a QWERTY keyboard the question here is whether you want a smart phone or will be happy with a regular cell phone.

Samsung SLM - The SLM is a fashionable flip phone from AT&T. From a feature perspective both phones are comparable, but you'll give up the QWERTY keyboard with the SLM, so if that's important you may want to choose the enV2. The SLM also has some issues with the controls and keypad, they are not well differentiated so it can be difficult to dial a number or interact with the interface.

Sidekick LX - The Sidekick LX is a youth oriented smart phone from T-Mobile. Like the LG enV2 it has a full QWERTY keyboard, but the phone itself is much larger. Despite being a smart phone the LX is not much better than the enV2 in terms of software features, although we do have to say we like the Sidekick interface better. The LX's camera is also pretty poor and doesn't support video recording, while the enV2's is a decent camera despite some particular issues with photo resolution. Given that the Sidekick LX is significantly more expensive than the LG enV2 and it doesn't give you much more we have to lean towards the enV2 in this matchup.

LG Voyager - The Voyager can be thought of as the LG enV2's big sibling. The device itself is bigger, but like the enV2 it sports a full QWERTY keyboard. The exterior of the phones are very different, however, with the Voyager sporting a fully featured touch screen interface when closed, compared to the small screen on the exterior of the enV2. In most situations, however, the phones functionality is comparable. The biggest difference may be that the Voyager's web browser is significantly better than the enV2's, so if you want to browse the web on your device you might want to pay the extra for the Voyager. If that isn't important to you we'd lean towards the more reasonably priced LG enV2.

Samsung M520 - The M520 is a fairly solid entry level device from Sprint. That said the LG enV2 is a better all around device, with better image and video capture, better messaging capabilities with the full QWERTY keyboard and better multimedia capabilities. If these things are worth the extra $80 to you go with the enV2, otherwise the M520 might be for you.
