We were very happy with the LG enV2's battery performance, it was above average across the board. This is one phone that you probably won't need to worry about being close to a charger or carrying an extra battery with you. For more information about our battery tests see this article. |
We were fairly happy with the LG enV2's battery performance in our call time test. At five hours and twenty-nine minute it's significantly above average and blows away our worst performer amongst our comparison phones the SMT5800. In fact only the Sidekick LX amongst our comparison phones performed better in this test, and then only by a few minutes. The enV2's performance in this test means it will be a solid performer even for those who like to chatter all day long. To do this test we make a call to the phone using Skype and pipe audio over the connection to simlate conversation. We then time how long the phone lasts before it dies.
Music Playback (6.25)
In our music playback test the LG enV2 lasted for eight hours twenty-one minutes. Also this is a solid time it's not the best we've ever seen. You can see from the table below that the Samsung SLM and M520 both did significantly better. The enV2's performance was good enough that you could use it as your primary music player for several hours a day without worrying that your battery will die on you. For this test we use a standardized album of Mp3's that we set to loop continously and leave all the other settings at standard.
Web Browsing (7.36)
Web browsing time on the LG enV2 was six hours eight minutes, which is a little better than our talk time and is a very good time, especially for a phone like the enV2 that uses a 3G network. You can see from the chart below that the enV2's performance in this test is better than average and amongst our comparison phones only the Sidekick LX performed better. For this test we point the phone's web browser at a site that is set to refresh every ten seconds. We then ensure that the screen stays on to simulate real browsing.
Idle Time unscored
In order to ensure that we deliver reviews in a timely fashion we don't test idle time for cell phones. According to LG the enV2's idle time is 520 hours.
