LG Dare Cell Phone Review - Other Features

Tethered Modem (7/0)
The LG Dare can be used as a tethered modem for your computer either via USB or Bluetooth. You can use Verizon's software, included in the CD with the phone, to dial out or you can just Google around to find dial up numbers and passwords to set up your own connection. We will warn you that if you don't have a dedicated tethering plan you should be careful about how much data you transfer when using the phone as a modem. As long as you create your own connection rather than using Verizon's software you should be able to get away with light usage, but if you start torrenting expect to see some stiff penalties on your next bill.

GPS (6.0)
Like many modern high end devices the LG Dare support GPS functionality. You have to use Verizon's Navigator software with the GPS, which does a reasonable job of local searches, directions and turn by turn directions, but not as good as a dedicated GPS device like a Tom Tom One or Garmin Nuvi. The biggest obstacle faced by Verizon's software is that maps are downloaded on the fly, this means that if you are out in the middle of nowhere without a cell signal you flat can't use the service. If you stick to urban areas, howver, it should be fine for you.
