Conclusion
There are a lot of buzzwords and hype surrounding the Arena's announcement and while the device looked nice and the UI did present some concepts we haven't seen before in touchscreen devices, it didn't feel as ground-breaking and spectacular as the shiny PR words would have us believe. Regardless, we do think it will be an alternative to the iPhone 3G that will appeal to many, particularly given its impressive still image and video capture capabilities. While we'd need to get an Arena in our labs to do our full round of tests, our guess is that it will handily beat the iPhone 3G in these areas (particularly since the iPhone 3G can't even record video out of the box). In the other areas, our sense is that there won't be a decisive winner one way or the other.
