Expect More Android Phones in 2009, General Mobile's DSTL1 Coming Soon

Andy Rubin, the senior director for Mobile Platforms for Google disclosed that by the end of 2009, there would be at least eighteen handsets worldwide operating on the Android platform. The number could even go up to twenty though Rubin didn’t comment on the prospective manufacturers.

Canadian network Rogers Communications will start selling the Xperia X1a from June 9th onwards. The smartphone will retail for  $249.99 with a  3-year Rogers contract.

The DSTL1 which is an ultra chic Android based cellphone by General Mobile will start shipping by next month. The cellphone features a 5MP SONY Brand Camera with Automatic Focusing (AF), Double-SIM Technology and Avi or DivX file support.
