BlackBerry Pearl 8130 Cell Phone Review - Other Features

Tethered Modem (6.0)
The phone can be used as a tethered modem, either through a USB or Bluetooth connection. Setting it up is easy, though you’ll probably need to dig up connection information. The ridiculous, inexplicable side to all this is that, while Verizon demands you pay for the service, there’s really nothing to stop you from doing it: data transfers are data transfers. The rule of thumb is if you transfer more than [some arbitrary number] GB per month, they’ll just assume you’re doing something against the terms of service, like tethering or using torrents, using hacked applications, visiting gross web sites, or otherwise violating one of their obscure rules. They will then charge you overages – even if you have an unlimited data plan. If you just use the feature sparingly, however, you probably won’t run afoul of the internet police.
GPS (8.0)
The Pearl does have a GPS system. Since the phone is from Verizon, expect to use it with VZ Navigator, and expect to pay a monthly fee for the service. VZ Nav is easy to use, fortunately, so you should be up and running a course easily.
