Tethered Modem (6.5)
You can connect the 8820 to a PC via USB or Bluetooth and use it as a tethered modem. The setup is as easy as it ever was, and is a great feature for business users. Unfortunately, the 8820 still doesn't support AT&T's 3G network. Considering the 8820 is supposed to be an upgraded version of the 8800, we're not sure why 3G support wasn't one of the features to be added.
GPS (7.0) The 8820 comes with a GPS receiver as well as Telenav Maps software. Using this program, you can create maps at no charge and get directions between two locations. You can't get turn-by-turn directions unless you pay a fee for the service: $5.99 gets you 10 uses per month, and $9.99 gets you unlimited uses per month. Charging for this service at this point is a little absurd, since Google Maps is still free to use.
PTT (5.0)
AT&T's Push-to-talk network is available on the 8820, and can be brought up by the dedicated button on its left side. PTT allows walkie-talkie communication between two devices (the second device also needs PTT). The 8820's PTT keeps a list of separate contacts, and is very easy to use.
