Most camera phone photos lead a sad and lonely life; taken, the left on the cell phone and never viewed or printed. But Kodak and Belkin think they have a way around this; their new Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter with KODAK Picture Upload Technology is designed to allow compatible cell phones to copy their images onto a PC, and from there onto the Internet. The new $49.99 device is a USB Bluetooth connector that's compatible with PCs running Windows XP or Vista (but not Macs). The software is from Kodak; it connects to the cell phone and can automatically grabs new photos from the phone whenever it comes into Bluetooth range. Once the photos have been copied from the cell phone, they can then be uploaded to Kodak's online gallery, or directly to social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. The images can also be edited and printed from the PC, or sent to Kodak for printing.
Belkin claims that the new adapter is compatible with a wide range of phones from Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson and others; there is a list of tested phones here. The adapter can also work with other Bluetooth devices such as headsets and printers. The Bluetooth USB Adapter with KODAK Picture Upload Technology costs $49.99 and includes a $5 off voucher for Kodak prints.
