Alltel Customers Can Get Answers

March 1, 2007 - For users who need movies times for a date, business professionals in need of flight information, or trivia contestants at the bar, Alltel Wireless now offers AskMeNow, a service that answers questions via text messaging. Users can access AskMeNow on smart phones for the monthly rate of $3.99 for smart phones or, for non-smart phones, $1.99 per month or 25 cents per question.
 
“Alltel recognizes the importance of our customers who are on the go to get information quicker and easier,” said Alltel senior vice president Wade McGill of wireless products. 
 
As the U.S.’s largest wireless network, according to the release, Alltel serves 11 million customers. With the subscription-based AskMeNow service, Alltel customers can immediately access weather, horoscopes, news, and of course, trivia.

Users can text A-S-K-M-E (2-7-5-6-3) at the cost of a quarter to receive an answer to their inquiry. Among the more interesting questions by users on the AskMeNow website is “How do dolphins sleep?” and “How many songs does one gigabyte memory card hold?” The answers according to the site is sleeping one half of the brain at a time and 250 songs, respectively.
