AT&T reveals iPhone 3G pricing and availability

July 1, 2008 - AT&T announced details about pricing and availability of the iPhone 3G today. AT&T stores will open at 8:00 AM on Friday the 11th of July to sell the handset. There is no word if Apple stores will also open at that time. The handset will be available to new customers or those who qualify for an upgraded handset under their current plan for $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16 GB model. Those who are not eligible for an upgrade will pay the unsubsidized price of $399 for the 8GB model and $499 for the 16GB model As long as they are AT&T customers. AT&T indicated that they will offer the iPhone with no contract for $599 or $699 in the future.

Plans start at $69.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited data and range up to unlimited minutes and data for $129.99. Family plans are also available. Unlike original iPhone plans from last year's launch these plans will not include text messages, customers will have to purchase text messaging plans separately ranging from $5 for 200 messages to $20 for unlimited messages. Business plans are also available and as previously revealed data plans will cost $45 a month in addition to your talk and text messaging plans.
