AT&T Offers BlackBerry Pearl and Treo 680 in Red

March 12, 2007 – Red phones are soooooo in this season. Cingular, under parent company AT&T, announced today the new red-flavored BlackBerry Pearl in Ruby and Palm Treo 680 in Crimson. Called “red hot,” according to a Cingular press release today, the BlackBerrry Pearl and the Palm Treo 680 are both available for $199.99 each with a 2-year contract.
“The additional choices of color offer panache and style, and these world-class products boast all the features that made the original versions very popular among AT&T customers,” said AT&T executive director Michael Woodward of mobile professional solutions.
The BlackBerry Pearl and Palm Treo 680 in their new outfits promise to carry the same functions of the predecessors in more color options for users.
The BlackBerry Pearl is still their smallest and thinnest BlackBerry, measuring 4.2x1.97x0.57 inches and weighing 3.1 ounces. The
“The BlackBerry Pearl is a bit hit with users because it looks as great as it performs,” said Research in Motion vice president Mark Guibert of corporate marketing in a RIM press release today.
The other new red colored mobile phone is the Palm Treo 680. TheTreo 680 comes equipped with a QWERTY keyboard and still, video, and MP3 music functions. The smart phone also features Pocket Tunes, Bluetooth capabilities, and an optional GPS receiver, that can be accessed using the 2.2-inch touch screen panel.
Red is not the last color that consumers will hear of for mobile phones. RIM hints at another “eye-catching color and finish” to come on the BlackBerry Pearl, according to the release.
