With a 1340 mAh batter, the Fuze does pretty well for itself with the best call time battery life among our comparison devices and impressive music playback battery life. Web browsing time is less than spectacular, but not surprising. For more information about our battery tests see this article.

Call Time (7.96)
Call time battery life is, in our view, one of the most important factors in considering which phone is right for you. If you tend to take and make a lot of calls while you're on the go and not always near a power outlet to charge up when you need it, you'll obviously want a device that can keep up with you. The Fuze's claimed call time battery life is a whopping 7.4 hours though in our tests it didn't live up to this expectation, which is not at all uncommon, lasting 6 hours and 38 minutes. This is a very good time, earning the Fuze the highest score among our comparison phones, including the iPhone 3G that had surprised it with its result of 5 hours and 50 minutes here.

Music Playback (10.63)
If you love music and use your cell phone as your digital music player, the Fuze will definitely keep you happy with its music playback battery life. In our tests, the Fuze lasted a whopping 14 hours and 46 minutes, second only to the Nokia N96 among our comparison phones. This is a pretty good time for a smartphone and the Fuze earns many well-deserved points in this area.

Web Browsing (4.36)
Web browsing is an activity that takes a lot of power, mostly to keep the screen's backlight on and then to run the cellular radio. In the Fuze's case, its 3G radio is even more power-hungry than an EDGE-only one, and its battery life here suffers quite a bit, lasting only 3 hours and 38 minutes, putting it in the middle of the pack here below the iPhone 3G and above the Touch Diamond.

Idle Time unscored
Testing a phone's idle time, also called standby time, could take several days or even weeks with most phones these days, so in order to complete our reviews in a timely manner, we don't test and score idle time. The Fuze's claimed standby time is over 19 days. Idle time is largely influenced by cellular signal strength - the further away a phone is from a tower, the harder it works to maintain a connection, which drains the battery more quickly. Most users will see great variations in stand-by battery life since changing locations constantly affects what towers the phone can connect to and the energy required to do so. Additionally, 3G radios and networks are power-hungry, which can have an even more pronounced effect on a 3G device's battery life.
